all levels within the Archdiocese the participation of persons with
disabilities in the life of the Church. Provides pastoral care and
Disability Awareness about the needs and gifts of persons with

Black Deaf Advocates
NBDA is the
official voice of Black deaf and hard of hearing Americans—a
community that has historically been neglected in terms of provision
of equal access to education, employment and social services. For
more than two decades, NBDA has been at the forefront of the
struggle for access, and equity for Black deaf and hard of hearing
people. NBDA's objective is to provide advocacy intended to remedy
past injustices and to stake a share of the American dream for its

organization of men and women who have been affected either directly
or indirectly by the abuse of any mood-altering chemical or

Ministries Fellowship

Germantown
Deaf Ministries Fellowship (GDMF) is a non-denominational
advocacy support group for the deaf community. They came
together in 1976 with a mission to be a multi cultural diverse
ability group that welcomes and incorporates people of all
backgrounds, ages and challenges with an invitation open to the
community. They sponsor annual recreational, horticultural,
musical events and an annual Deaf/Hearing Multi-Cultural Women’s
Tea every spring. Mrs. Rosalind McKelvey is the Director of
Germantown Deaf Ministries Fellowship. She is a deaf advocate
and has coordinated and directed children’s’ youth programs
since 1973. Germantown Deaf Ministries Fellowship partners with
ISS, interacting with interpreters, congregations and local
community organizations working hand in hand to help visions

Pennsylvania’s Initiative on Assistive Technology (PIAT)
PIAT is a
statewide, cross-age, cross-disability program dedicated to helping
Pennsylvanians with disabilities learn about and obtain the
assistive technology devices and services they need. Hands-on
demonstrations and device loans are offered to increase
understanding of how these low and high tech devices can help people
with disabilities learn, live, work, and play. Once you know what
you need, PIAT staff can help you in your search for the funding
that you need to obtain the devices and services. In addition, PIAT
maintains a listing of “previously owned” devices that people are

Society For Helping
Church, Inc.
On March 10,
1976, under the vision of Founder and Pastor, Dr. Repsie Warren and
co-founder Rev. Dorothy J. Josey, deaf and hearing together united
in love and purpose and became Society for Helping Church, a
non-denominational faith community with a mission to enhance lives
through holistic ministry. This special all-inclusive
ministry is aimed to help increase one's development physically,
intellectually, emotionally, socially and above all spiritually.
The R.M. Warren All Deaf Choir and community sign language classes
make Society one of the main gathering places for the deaf and
others with and without disabilities, located at 1323 W. Susquehanna
Ave., Philadelphia, PA (215) 236-1250

Here at Society, in October, 2002, we
officially grouped for our mission. We later had our meetings at
the Carousel House in
Fairmount Park. In 2007,
Sharon Baptist Church,
(3955 Conshohocken Ave.,
Philadelphia, PA 19131) officially
became the faith-based location of Interfaith Specialty Services,
Inc.
