Service Matters
Execution of
excellent community service projects is
one of the hallmarks of the NAAWLI
experience.
Angela
Lundy, Fellow, Class of 2006,
implemented a project to address a
passion and fill a void. Her project
is entitled “A Widow’s Mite” and was
established to facilitate delivery of
donated, used devices (canes, walkers,
oxygen equipment, portable ramps, capTel
telephones, light flashers, etc.) which
are used to assist in the physical
rehabilitation of persons with
challenges (physical, mental, and
sensory). Needs for devices can be met
immediately when persons do not have
insurance, cannot afford to purchase
them or are waiting for long-term
assistance from government agencies.
She was awarded a combined city of
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and
government grant to provide
accommodations for disabled homeowners
and her efforts were featured on
www.philly.com:
.
Angela
is the founder and executive director of
Interfaith Specialty Services (ISS)

Angela’s religious convictions fuel her
efforts” … God is able to do exceedingly
abundantly beyond even what we think to
ask.” Angela recently launched a new
ministry – Physically Enabled and
Cognitively Empowered (PEACE) to promote
the freedom of religion for all people.
She is an ordained minister, an
accomplished musician, an author of her
personal story” Uphill Journey”, and an
advocate for disability rights. Angela
knows first hand obstacles that are
faced by those with challenges as she is
profoundly deaf. We are in awe of
Angela’s accomplishments and wish her
continued success in this ongoing
endeavor. |
